Keep your germs to yourself
It's about that time of year again. The germs are out in full force. And if you work in an office environment, at least one person is bound to get the crud. And they will come to work because they are dedicated. And they will infect EVERYONE ELSE. And since everyone can't stay home sick, the bug will likely circulate and mutate and there will be at least one sick person in the building at all times.
These sick people will touch the copier. The fax machine. Your stapler. Your phone. Every box of staples in the supply closet because they want one that is in a pristine box. They will touch the coffee pot, every door handle in the building and sometimes they will touch you.
Heed my warning people, once a bug gets into an office it is really difficult to get rid of it. Your best line of defense is a strong offense. If you arm yourself with some of the following tips I personally use to get through cold and flu season, you may find yourself healthier this year than any other.

| Or you could just fashion yourself a skirt like this to forcibly keep people out of your personal space.
|
Step 1 - Every morning use the Dymon "Do It All" Foaming Cleaner on every hard plastic item on your desk. Phone, mouse, keyboard, desk surface, chair arms. Anything you are going to touch, spray it with this industrial grade germ killer then wipe dry. This stuff is amazing.
Step 2 - After shaking any hands, touching any community ANYTHING, thouroughly wash your hands with the Genuine Joe Antibacterial Hand Soap for at least 30 seconds with water as hot as you can stand it.
Step 3 - When you return from lunch, wipe down all the surfaces of your desk again. This time with Genuine Joe Disinfecting Wipes. This will take care of any pesky germs that may have floated into your office/cubicle while you were away. Or if someone just 'dropped by' and happened to nudge your mouse, lick your phone...whatever. You don't know what your co-workers do to your desk when you're away. Safest to err on the side of caution and just wipe everything down again.
Step 4 - Throughout the entire day, whenever you think about it really, use a few pumps of Genuine Joe Gel Hand Sanitizer. Keep a bottle on your desk. A LARGE bottle. Use it often. The new formulas are less drying than they were when this stuff was introduced, so don't be afraid to lather it on this germ season. This is your health we're talking about. Better to be safe than sorry.
I realize this may seem like overkill. But being sick is no fun. And being sick at work is the worst. No one can really afford to miss work or get horrifically ill. So best to take precautions against getting sick in the first place. If you follow these steps every day you will at least up your chances of getting through one more week on the healthy side.

Fall Cleaning
I love the fall. The heat breaks, the leaves turn, kids return to school. Because I am addicted to my air conditioner throughout the summer, my house is usually so stuffy and dry by September I can't stand it anymore. So I love being able to throw open my windows and let the crisp autumn air into the house.
This is also the time of year I do my heaviest cleaning and redecorating. I know the old addage about Spring Cleaning, but for me I prefer to do deep cleaning in the fall. My kids are home less to screw up all my hard work and I like the lack of dust and dinginess before winter shows up.
That is why I'm so excited (yes, I really am. Don't judge.) to talk about Genuine Joe Cleaning Products. They work just as well, and sometimes better, than the name brand supplies, but cost a FRACTION of the price. And, since we've all learned by now that I am incredibly lazy, I love that they are delivered directly to my home. I need to save up the energy I would have wasted at the store to use to clean my apparently filthy house. (Reading back on that I realize that it sounds like my house is gross. It's not, I promise. Just everyday wear and clutter.)
With the Genuine Joe line of cleaning supplies I can save time and money. Both of those are things that I enjoy very much, and I'm sure you do too. Check out some of the neat items below and stop by our website for even more savings.
Glass Cleaning Wipes. Forget the old spray and towel method. Use these convenient, streakless and dripless wipes instead.

Stainless Steel Cleaner and Polish. If you have Stainless Steel appliances then you know the...joy, of cleaning them. And the cost of those sprays can get kind of outrageous. Well ladies and gentlemen, Genuine Joe to the rescue.
Microfiber Dusting Mitt. Sure, those dust and toss type cloths are handy, but they can get expensive. The Genuine Joe Dusting Mitt is soft and washable so it can be used over and over again. Picks up dust with ease and won't scratch any surfaces. Handy Dandy.
All Purpose Cleaning Wipes. Value is a big deal. To us, to you and to Genuine Joe. For less than you would spend on those brand name tubes with only 35 wipes in them, (go check your closet, I'll wait. Yup. 35 wipes.) You can get the Genuine Joe wipes that come with 100 wipes. That is a spectacular savings.

Are You Ready?
It's that time of year again! The kickoff to the NFL season started last night with a great game between the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants. With the exception of the replacement refs it was quite the enjoyable opening game.
Granted, I am a HUGE Dallas fan (please don't hold that against the company as a whole. These thoughts and opinions are mine, not necessarily those of Volk Corporation.) But Romo looked good, Ogletree came out of NOWHERE for a big night, and Witten was at least in the game. (Hope your spleen is doing better dude.)
Eli didn't seem like that much of a Super Bowl Quarterback last night though. That was a little disappointing.
But all in all it was a great game and has me totally pumped for another season of Football. Here in Michigan we are all rooting for the Lions to get a little further this year (yes, even me. As long as my 'Boys make it somewhere too.)
How about you all? Are you ready for fall and football and fantasy sports competitions?

The end of another great Shark Week
This year marks the 25th anniversary of Discovery Channel's Shark Week. The most popular week of the year for that station. I have to believe that their ratings are higher than ever during this one week a year where they focus on the amazingly beautiful sea creatures.
I personally have always been enamored of sharks. Specifically Great White sharks. I mean let's be honest, go big or stay home right?
Anyway, every year Discovery Channel brings us special programming centered around sharks and most of the country lives for it. Though the last few years have been a little disappointing. Mostly rerun shows appeared, with perhaps a new collection of shark attack victims being rounded up and paraded in front of the camera.
Not this year though. Woo buddy! They went all out for their anniversary edition. New MythBusters, new shows about how the movie Jaws changed the world, and new Air Jaws, my very favorite of all of the shows featured on Shark Week.
There is something just hypnotising about watching a creature that is 14 feet long and weighs 3000 pounds launching itself out of the water at 25 miles per hour (30 G-Force for any of my fellow nerds who watched this on the edge of their seats.) to devour poor little seals. Great White's are vicious, cold, calculating creatures and to see them shoot up in the air and do a complete flip to crash back into the water with the grace of an Olympic Diver is a sight to behold.

Can you hear the mommies singing?
It's (finally) that time of year again. At least, if you live in Michigan. There are some states that have year round school and...well, good for you. But for those of us in the mid-west, we start to get antsy around the middle of August because we know that Labor Day is just around the corner, and Labor Day means the kids go back to school. YAY!
As the mother of a teenager, who is entering HIGH SCHOOL this year, I am both thrilled and terrified for my daughter. I remember high school. Not fondly. But she is far better poised than I was. Honor student, pretty, and by time school officially starts she will have her Black Belt in karate. So watch out any of you boys that may have thought of even looking in her direction...sorry, I'm way off topic.
Anyway, YAY! Back to school season is upon us again. And Volk Corporation would like to help ease the stress and burden of your back to school shopping. Below you will find handy dandy links to the most commonly needed items on your checklist for student supplies. And while you are at the site, check out other commonly needed office supply products you may need. Everything will be conveniently delivered right to your door. There is no need to fight crowds and haul bags to and from the car. It's getting cold out there. Ok, not really, but a girl can dream can't she?
So check out our deals on the following items, let us deliver them to you and take all the fuss and worry out of school supply shopping. We can't do anything about teenage boys, but we can make sure you have enough pens, pencils and erasers to remove, add or cover Justin Beiber's name on your children's folders and notebooks.
